JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK’s cross streets is named in his honor. 

Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including:

GENERAL DUTIES

Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Services and in collaboration with the Medical Director(s) of Trauma and Critical Care Services, the Trauma Program Manager/Trauma Process Improvement and Safety Nurse is responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach to the care of the injured patient.  The Trauma Program Manager/Trauma Process Improvement and Safety Nurse collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director in carrying out the educational, clinical, research, administrative, and outreach activities of the trauma program. Demographic information limited Patient Health Information as related to job function.

Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Schedule: Monday thru Friday

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

  • Provide quarterly educational offerings to JFK MEMORIAL HOSPITAL staff
  • Participate and guides the orientation of new staff in the care of trauma patients
  • Provides community trauma education and prevention yearly
  • Monitors trends and sentinel events, and outlines remedial action 
  • Coordinates day to day clinical process and performance improvement
  • Manage required reporting data for filters and case reviews of county and state authorities
  • Provide outgoing data for hospital quality programs and PI initiatives for trauma program
  • Maintain hospital trauma registry as required by county and state guidelines without 30-day log discrepancy
  • Collects, codes, scores and develops process for validation of data derived from trauma center care
  • Conduct monthly trauma audits providing feedback to director and nursing staff relating to deficiencies
  • Provide direct supervision of trauma registrar
  • Provides clinical management support in the absence of the clinical manager
  • Serves as liaison to administration and clinical staff for trauma program issues
  • Represents hospital in a professional manner in community activities, county and state-wide functions including monthly county EMS meetings
  • Conduct yearly JFK MEMORIAL HOSPITAL research projects relating to trauma care
  • Participate in daily rounds on all inpatient trauma patients
  • Maintain participation in a state or national clinical organization pertaining to trauma registry.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency with computer hardware, trauma registry software and ensuring preventative and routine maintenance for a database registry.
  • Accurately identifies all patients for entry into the hospital trauma registry, abstract data from the medical records of appropriately defined trauma patients. Completes and verifies for accuracy all data collected and entered as a requirement for a level II trauma center according to current local, state and national standards.
  • Aids in the preparation for the American College of Surgeons- Committee (ACS-COT) on Trauma Level 4 Trauma Center Verification/Re-verification and/or the Riverside County EMS Agency trauma survey, as applicable
  • Analyzes trauma data to provide both routine and adhoc reports of trauma statistics and performance improvement and patient safety audits/filters to the TPM for but not limited to: monthly performance improvement meetings and trauma operational meetings, routine volume reporting, statistics, trends in audit filters, loop closure evaluation and opportunities for improvement, education, financial analysis, trauma audit committee and southeast trauma coordinating care committee, external oversight: The Joint Commission, CMS, and the ACS-COT, and/or Riverside County EMS Agency, Trauma research.
