Department Overview

Electric Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity to our customers and is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's Electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

 A critical part of Electric Operations is the execution of large transmission line projects.  The Central/Bay Transmission Line project management team is responsible for execution of large transmission line (including underground) projects.

 

Position Summary

Transmission Line Central/Bay area team is responsible for supporting Electric Operation in overall project execution as well as the efficient use of technology, tools, and applications for managing the project lifecycle in accordance with current PG&E project management standards and processes.

TLine Central/Bay area team is looking for a talented summer intern to help support the compliant, efficient, and systemic control of the project documents, track project activities, attend the site visit and work with land agents, maintain, use and disposition of records. TLine Central/Bay area team will be driving numerous activities including:

  • Track projects activities and assist in managing projects costs/schedule.
  • Performing Risk Assessment for Transmission Line projects
  • Managing projects accruals
  • Developing requirements for managing electronic records
  • Developing and implementing program effectiveness plan

 

The successful intern will have the opportunity to support activities as described above working with a team of experienced project managers.  Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Operations organization through the work they will be performing.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.56 to $34.07

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with team to work on issues, projects or activities.
  • Provides support and assists with the implementation process for project and/or program initiatives.
  • Creates comprehensive and technical reports and develops business cases.
  • Prepares letters, forms, reports, meeting summaries, presentations, memorandums, records and reference data using established formats.
  • Develops data metrics and statistics and identifies data attributes.
  • Documents data sources, data methodology and models evaluation metrics.
  • Gathers information, prepares data and performs analysis on data models and presents findings. Produces models and actionable insights.
  • Provides support for regulatory compliance activities.
  • Tracks data and information and enters into tracking system.
  • Compiles drawing search and inventory for programs and equipment specification information. Updates SAP asset registry.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering field
  • Students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after the internship 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

 

Desired:

  • EIT or FE certification
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
