About the role

Position Title: Community Health Systems Intern, 

Position Classification: Temporary; Exempt; Part-Time; 10-12 Hours/Week (September 2026—December 2026)

Reports To: PIH Director of Community Health Systems

Location: Hybrid (based in Boston office

Position Overview:

The Community Health Systems intern will work support the work of Campaneros en Salud, a sister organization of Partners in Health (PIH) and the Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC).  As directed by the PIH Director of Community Health Systems, the work would include researching regions of expansion and facilitating transnational connectedness. This is a part-time hybrid internship through Partners in Health and the Tufts Community Health Department, and the goal is to expose the intern to the work of a global health nonprofit while supporting Dr. Palazuelos’ projects and their own goals. 

Responsibilities:

  • Attending monthly cross-site PIH meetings
  • Assisting Dr. Palazuelos with research-related tasks (70% of time, some independent decision-making responsibility, potential for reports) 
  • Managing monthly cross-site CHW calls 
  • Working with regional teams to move papers to publication 
  •  Collaborating with PIH sites to complete regional and organization-level projects (30% of time, some independent decision-making responsibility, potential for reports) 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma  
  • Extracurricular activities, coursework, or other demonstrated interest in movement building, community organizing, or advocacy strongly preferred
  • At least three months of prior formalized research experience. 
  • Ability to work independently and self-direct projects/tasks in a timely manner. 
  • A strong commitment to global health equity. 
  • Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Outlook/PowerPoint/Word/etc. will be useful. 
  • Video and/or audio editing experience is preferred but not required.
