The Registrar Receptionist will:
• Facilitate the patient/visitor’s adjustment to the Hospital environment by acting as the initial administrative contact, greeting them upon arrival and directing them to the appropriate area if necessary.
• Positively greets patients presenting for services by communicating the values of the department and the hospital.
Streamlines the patient flow by prioritizing patients on arrival according to their scheduled (or unscheduled) appointments.
• Notify appropriate department staff of late arrivals.
• Screen patients/visitors and promptly notifies appropriate personnel when required.
• Always demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior during personal and telephone contact.
• Responsible for pre and full registration of patients, obtaining the required information to properly register them into the hospital’s electronic medical record system (EMR) according to protocol established by the Admitting Department.
• Includes obtaining insurance referrals, prescription referrals, copayments, medical record release form and necessary signatures for consent forms.
• Verification and scanning of photo identification and insurance cards.
• Understanding and implementing downtime procedures should they occur during any point of the registration process.
• Advise patients of their rights to financial counseling and obtains the required documentation.
• Maintain a current knowledge of basic billing practices of the Hospital/department to answer questions or direct them to the appropriate hospital staff member, by attending routine billing/registration hospital meetings.
• Recognize any potential problems immediately and either acts to resolve the problem or obtains immediate supervisory intervention, by involving the Financial or Practice Coordinator.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and efficient work area. Consistently following proper safety, emergency, infection control and performance improvement guidelines.
• Responsible for ensuring the waiting area is orderly and maintained with current education materials out daily, with TV stations on appropriate channels.
• Monitor and maintain inventory for office supplies and alerts Practice Coordinator when routine supplies are low.
• Receive and sign off on delivered archive charts from off-site archival location and present to the appropriate staff member.
• May need to process pick-up request for archive courier delivery.
• Relay highly sensitive and confidential information in accordance with departmental and hospital policy and procedures.
• Calls for specimen pick-up to special outside courier services, such as Mayo Laboratories, LabCorp or Quest. Obtain tracking number and assure pick up without any issues.
• Demonstrate a cooperative behavior as a team member with willingness to adjust to minor changes in workflow:
• Attend/Participate in staff meetings
• Complete mandatory in-service education classes/seminars/on-the-job training programs as required.
• Maintain good rapport and relationships with coworkers in and outside of department.
• Serve as secondary to answering all incoming telephone calls.
• Screen incoming calls to determine urgency and routes to appropriate personnel or takes accurate messages in accordance with established department procedure.
• Practice good phone skills; Answers telephone in a courteous, efficient and helpful manner.
• Document all patient interactions accurately and immediately in department’s EMR system: SHIRE

Requirements:
• Requires excellent communication skills for the effective and courteous interaction with a diverse group of patients, hospital personnel, physicians and their staff, outside offices, etc. Bilingual ability preferred.
• Requires good office and organizational skills. 2-3 years’ experience in an office and patient/customer environment.
• Computer expertise with knowledge of word processing and database software. Skills with Microsoft Word and Excel of particular importance.
• Requires the ability to project a positive image through interactions with patients and their families, outside institutions, physicians and other Hospital departments and staff.
• Requires attention to detail and computer accuracy as pertains to data entry and patient scheduling.

Salary Range: 17.75 - 24.73 USD

We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials.

The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
