Prep Cook

Primary Purpose and Function

The Prep Cook is responsible for serving attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth. This position is primarily responsible for preparing and cooking foods to ensure an efficient and safe food service. This position is also responsible for creating, planning and executing menu for facility's inpatient clients and for staff events by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans
2. Maintain high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen
3. Manage food inventory and costs
4. Prepare special diets and meals as needed
5. Collaborate with staff and provide training as necessary 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Progressive culinary experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
•  Must be ServSafe Certified.

Physical Demands

• Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. 
• Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. 
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range:

$30.00-$34.00 per hour
