The Senior Manager FSQ Operations will ensure accurate implementation of and adherence to USA Quality policies, specifications, programs and functions for all USA Potato manufacturing operations.  Lends guidance or assists in the effective management of the plant's sanitation program, HAACP, recall programs, internal and external audits, food safety compliance, SPC, and process control.  Provides guidance and leadership to Quality personnel and also to others, including Plant and Company personnel and visitors.  Must work a flexible schedule, including travel and weekends, to support Operations, Quality, and food safety activities. Must be willing to relocate to US corporate headquarter as well as other US plants.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Lead, assist, and ensures accurate implementation, standardization, and adherence to corporate Quality systems (policies, SOPS, programs) to ensure Plant food quality and Safety
  • Respond to new or changes in regulations on specifications, procedures, quality, and implications where utilized in a range of finished product. Compliance with Company policies and Federal and State laws and guidelines.
  • Lead, participate, and assist in McCain internal quality assessment program and set QA goals and objectives that complement company policies and goals.
  • A clear understanding of and the ability to administer the McCain Operations Quality and Food Safety Systems, including evaluation, revision, and training, to maintain and verify the Systems effectiveness and sustainability Develop, administer, and recommend enhancements for Quality Policy, SOP, and other product quality related process improvement projects or systems.
  • Lead and/or participated change of management with validated results. Ability to drive organizational alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.
  • Proficient in problem solving techniques using six sigma, and lean six sigma tools.
  • Trouble shooting quality issues across the varied supply chains for ingredients, packaging, materials, and finished products.  
  • Analyze QA laboratory reports for trends, and lead effort to reduce or eliminate gaps which may be of concerns to McCain Foods USA and /or McCain Foods globally.
  •  Lead efforts to reduce held product effectively and Foodservice and retail complaints.
  • Manage held product with authority to disposition appropriately and record accordingly.
  • Provide advice or guidance on food quality and safety issues in compliance with industry standards.
  • Liaison with the Plant and quality management team on all operational food quality related issues. Assist in the area of Foodservice and retail products with regard to production issues.
  • Technical support for Plant Operations Quality, Field Sales and Chain Account executives.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with internal and external Customers, Plants, Auditors, Regulatory Agencies, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and excels in collaboration with team projects.
  • Strengthen existing and develop new relationships with the US plant management. Capable of engaging others in cross functional development and standardization of; Quality manuals, policies, procedures, and data templates, audit standards and procedures, and Quality Key Performance Indicators
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Plant inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Develop and recommend test procedures for products and raw materials.
  • Assist in the Supplier auditing program, including McCain facilities.
  • Project management to include planning, scheduling, and direction of activities.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Quality training programs, to ensure proper training of all Quality personnel.                         
  • Play an active role on US Operation quality management teams. Assist in the adaptation of new products and new process procedures where appropriate
  • An advanced understanding of analytical skills to direct or supervise proper and accurate product analysis, or laboratory work.
  • Supervise and direct other Quality personnel where applicable.
  • Must operate within the limits of departmental travel and expense budgets.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Engineering or related field. and a minimum 8-10 years of food or be
