Description
Join our esteemed healthcare team dedicated to providing exceptional care to our Cardiothoracic Surgery patients. We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team and contribute to our commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.
Schedule: Full-time nights with ability to flex to alternate shifts based on the needs of the service. Weekends and holidays are required.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough patient assessments, perform physical examinations, and formulate assessments and diagnoses. Initiate, review, and revise treatment plans, ensuring accurate documentation and presentation of data to the supervising physician.
- Medical Practice Support: Provide essential patient care services within the medical practice. Provide support and act as a resource to nursing staff. Direct inpatient pre and post op care of patients admitted to the cardiothoracic surgery service.
- Referrals and Consultations: Make referrals to other healthcare providers when necessary and consult with physicians for further definitive therapy. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Diagnostic Tests and Procedures: Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures, maintaining a commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Patient Education: Instruct and counsel patients on healthcare, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition, and related issues, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
- System Coordination: Facilitate efficient patient movement through the healthcare system and optimizing resource utilization through interdepartmental collaboration.
- Audits and Research Involvement: Participate in audits and research initiatives within the healthcare setting, contributing valuable insights and helping to advance our understanding and practices in Cardiothoracic surgical care.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform any other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the healthcare team.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in acute care, adult/gerontology, and/or family nurse practitioner. Current NYS RN license. One year experience as a NP in an acute care setting.
Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants. One year experience as a PA in an acute care setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Board certification. Experience working in a fast-paced medical practice. Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Three years of experience as a NP/PA in an acute care setting.
