About the Role

Cosma Casting specializes in High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) that designs and builds medium to large aluminium die-cast automotive components and operates in Germany, UK, Poland and US.

Senior Tooling Engineer is responsible for managing the cast and trim tool design support, gating, runner and cooling design, casting analysis used for production and prototype tooling for casting divisions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Calculate and design cooling system to ensure best part quality and optimal cycle time.
  • Develop and maintain global die standards to: 1. Improve production performance (net casting rate), 2. Optimize casting yield and, 3. Minimize tooling costs / good casting.
  • Implement proactive engineering tools approach (FMEA, Risk assessment and Lessons learned) to achieve first time pass (FTP) for all new launches.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to evaluate product and tooling design feasibility.
  • Finalize product design and technical specifications with customer for achieving target productivity, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Coordinate with divisions to correlate with the original design assumptions and document the lessons learned.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelors in engineering with 10 years of related experience in the high pressure die castings in the automotive industry.
  • Flexible to travel overseas; eligibility to work globally.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve project/company goals.
  • Good interpersonal skills with “hands on” problem solving expertise.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Die Design, Runner & Cooling Design experience
  • High pressure die cast process principles
  • Die Cast Gating and Runner design
  • Die cast cooling design and tooling standards
  • Knowledge of Casting Simulation tools (Magma soft / Flow3D) are preferred.
  • Very good English.
