Manager Research and Development

Summary:

This role is responsible for managing process and product innovation efforts that support the business unit objectives.

Essential Functions:

• Leads research and development team to support strategic objectives for assigned product lines.
• Collaborates with marketing and commercial teams to identify new opportunities and establish priorities.
• Delivers new products and technology to support strategic objectives. 
• Leads technology road-mapping efforts. Identifies, acquires or develops key technologies to maintain or establish leadership in key strategic markets. 
• Optimizes portfolio investments and resources to deliver high returns on research and development investments.
• Utilizes common research and development management processes and participates in process improvement efforts.
• Manages Intellectual Property for the group.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related technical field
• 8+ years’ experience in Research and Development or New Product Development.
• 5+ years’ experience leading research and development professionals and technicians.
• Successful product development history
• Experience in materials and material-driven applications.
• Understanding and success in risk management, resource planning, design control, product development and life cycle management
• Ability to interpret technology and market trends as a basis for technology and product roadmaps.
