About the role

Job Purpose

Global Parent Quality Testing & Systems Manager will serve as a Quality Excellence role supporting the Seeds Business, managing system and testing related quality processes for parents of hybrid crops.  This highly systems focused role will require complex data and statistical analysis skills, data visualization and metrics development experience, a systems mindset to ensure flawless generation and flow of parent quality testing data to stakeholders, as well as the ability to understand the genetic and agronomic implications of parent quality test results. 

A successful candidate will ensure the appropriate testing for parent seed is available, implemented in systems, assigned & completed, and communicated proactively across the Global parent seed network.  This individual will participate in or lead cross-functional projects to develop improvements to Global Parent Seed within Seed Production and Supply Chain and related processes within Research. We are looking for a skilled, dedicated, and inquisitive person to join the Global Parent Quality Characterization team.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation and configuration of parent testing in SAP quality systems including ZQ60N and associated processes (new tests, locations, crops).   Ensure system data is accurate to enable testing plan deployment.  Lead system related projects to ensure proactive solutions.   Work to define gaps and develop process and system enhancements to eliminate manual workarounds/opportunities for error.  Serve as a SME for all system related work that pertains to Global Parent Quality. 
  • Collaborate to ensure Parent testing strategy is developed and executed in accordance with Corteva, legal, and regulatory guidelines.  Complete data and statistical analysis work to refine quality standards and review quality trends to ensure parent quality supports commercial success.
  • A major component of this role will be to create dashboards and metrics which communicate parent quality data is complete, accurate, and managed appropriate across the parent network.  Lead Parent Quality dashboard generation and maintenance, through PowerBI or new technologies as available.  Partner with stakeholders and GSO leadership to ensure Parent Characterization KPI’s align with and support overall strategy.  Develop and define holistic Parent Quality KPI’s, ability to track said KPI’s, and process monitoring and improvement around parent quality performance.
  • Documentation of and implementation of Global Parent Work Instructions.  Mentorship of business partners in these processes.    Provide input into developing Business Plans, Goals and Quality Management procedures and documentation as needed.  Identify problems, initiate corrective actions, and maintain regular communications with multiple internal and external stakeholders.  Conduct personal and professional development.  Develop and maintain general and technical skills, as well as knowledge of Production Operations.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Ag Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agronomy, Genetics, or related field of study is required.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with data visualization and manipulation tools including PowerBI and SQL, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to organize data, perform analysis, and develop dashboards to inform and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders
  • 5+ years of systems/data analytics experience required
  • Holistic problem solving, and the ability to dive into systems to learn complexity,  understand upstream and downstream impacts, data relationships, and system workflows.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Organization, time management, and communication skills that allow for working in a multitask environment are required.

The following skill sets are preferred:

  • Working knowledge of inventory systems, such as SAP R/3
  • Genetic knowledge including SNP Scorecards
  • Advanced Coding experience
  • Knowledge of seed supply chain, agriculture and seed production, including parent
  • Six Sigma/ LEAN certification/PMP
  • Ability to provide training for proper use of computer systems
  • Advanced degree/MBA
