What You Will Do
Pratt & Whitney Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control, and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including: requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.
Pratt & Whitney is a seeking a Control System Airframe Integration Principal Engineer to work onsite in our East Hartford, CT campus. The successful candidate will be the Airframe Integration Lead on a military development program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage incoming and outgoing control system and airframe interface requirements. Analyze, decompose, validate, and document all relevant functional requirements.
- Plan software release content with airframer and internal customers and develop critical integration milestones and handoffs.
- Plan and coordinate verification and validation plans for Airframe/Engine Interface Requirements, including planning and execution of airframe integration rigs. As required, support onsite airframer integration, validation & verification.
- Participate as necessary in Airframe Integration, Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) and other integration meetings. Coordinate and lead airframe / control system Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and Design Reviews as required.
- Identify, assess, and communicate system-level functional risks, and develop mitigation plans and execute burndowns of those risks.
- Assess customer impact of open problems. Coordinate and, as necessary, lead root cause investigation efforts with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance of external communications with relevant IP and export requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 8 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of engineering experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with airframe integration, weapon system integration, working with the customer (airframer) to install the engine.
- Experience with military aircraft and or engine engineering processes.
- Good written and oral presentation skills and the ability to lead projects from the planning phase through execution.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
- Experience with DOORS, FADEC, control systems, engine control units, engine interface.
- Experience working on Agile teams.
- Desire for continuous learning and innovation.
- US Government Security Clearance is preferred; willing to obtain and maintain.
- Experience with military aircraft and or engine engineering processes.
