We are seeking applicants with a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on project management and client engagement. Demonstrated experience in Maine-specific environmental regulations is preferred.
As Principal, you will lead, develop, and oversee an environmental consulting practice, providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and innovative solutions to clients. Your extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, assessment methodologies, and project management will be instrumental in delivering high-quality consulting services and driving sustainable outcomes for our clients.

You will join our Environmental and Health practice
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and business leadership and contribute to advanced solutions in the environmental, chemical, commercial, manufacturing, government, energy, financial, insurance, and/or law sectors. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to generate and maintain a volume of business sufficient to support the growth of the firm. Typically, successful applicants generate at least enough business to support 2-3 staff members.
This individual will have experience managing consulting assignments, must work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, is expected to be proficient in the analysis and communication of information, and must be able to work cooperatively with agencies, organizations, and individuals to guide decision-making. The successful candidate also is expected to be proficient in all facets of project management and must demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and developing staff and collaboration with colleagues throughout the Practice.
Your key tasks and responsibilities may include:
- Client Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships. Understand their environmental consulting needs, develop tailored solutions, and provide exceptional client service.
- Project Management: Lead and manage environmental consulting projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deliverables are met within budget and timeline constraints. Supervise project teams, allocate resources effectively, and maintain project documentation.
- Environmental Assessments: Conduct and oversee environmental assessments, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), environmental impact assessments, due diligence assessments, and contaminated site investigations. Interpret findings and provide recommendations for mitigation and remediation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and ensure that consulting projects adhere to all applicable laws and guidelines. Advise clients on compliance requirements and assist in obtaining necessary permits.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Identify and assess environmental risks associated with client projects. Develop risk management strategies and assist clients in implementing effective measures to mitigate risks and ensure environmental compliance.
- Environmental Permitting: Assist clients in navigating the regulatory permitting process, including obtaining permits for activities such as air emissions, wastewater discharge, wetland impact, and hazardous waste management.
