Position responsible for the cleanliness of hard floor surfaces, carpets, entry matting, furniture fabric, and walls throughout all Residential Life Center managed buildings as well as premiere space furniture set-ups. This position may also be responsible for typical housekeeper cleaning duties in any of the following areas including but not limited to: residential colleges, apartments, and buildings that are managed by Dining Services, or offices such as the Police department, Summer Programs and Conference Services, Cornerstone, Health Services, STS and Operations. Evening positions will be 8hr shifts and may be 3pm-11:30pm, inclusive of weekend shifts.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- During summer months this position is responsible for the floor maintenance within buildings managed by the Residential Life Center. Duties include but not limited to scrubbing waxed floors, stripping waxed floors and apply wax to cleaned floors throughout all suites and apartment that were occupied during the academic year.
- Duties and responsibilities percentages below are reduced during summer months.
- Dust mopping, damp mopping, scrubbing, burnishing (buffing) tile floor within residential buildings or dining areas.
- Daily responsibilities on these shifts include cleaning Health Services and the South Forty Center. 20%
- Monitoring public areas on both sides of the residential campus in areas students and residents use very frequently during the evening and midnight shifts.
- Performing or assisting with table and chair setups for staff and student programs throughout the “premier” spaces on the residential sides of campus is often required.
- Monitoring outdoor tables/chairs/trash/recycling at the frequently used areas throughout the residential area.
- Daily communication with evening housekeeping supervisor is crucial to correct any issues concerning an assignment, a building or problem with supplies and equipment.
- Report all maintenance issues to management related to equipment used during this shift (auto-scrubbers, buffers, side-to-side scrubbers; report any suspicious person to Campus Police; follow the rules and regulations of Washington University in St. Louis; maintain a valid driver’s license at all times in the event you will need to drive the Residential Life Center owned truck.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Candidate must have sufficient communication skills, written and verbal.
- Self-motivated person that can take direction however works independently and strives to achieve very high personal and departmental standards.

Less than high school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

$16.08 - $21.47 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
