Job Description
The Assistant Professor teaches in the M.S. User Experience Interaction Design degree program as well as maintains roles in service to the program including but not limited to outreach, engagement, recruitment, student advising and mentorship to adjunct faculty. The program is delivered in the evenings, Monday through Friday. The Professor must have the ability to develop innovative and appropriate course content and teach in an active, in-person student environment.Essential Functions:•Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.•Instruct graduate-level courses during normal academic terms•Perform administrative service duties as assigned by the Program Director•Advise and mentor students on academic and career issues•Participate in University, College School activities and meetings•Participate in relevant community and professional activities and organizations that enhanceand promote the best interests of the program and the school•Participate in recruitment initiatives•Manage the process of coursework collection and program portfolio development• Perform routine alumni survey outreach•Serve on School, College or University committees as appropriate•Facilitate direction and mentorship to adjunct faculty to ensure the quality of course contentdeliverables and maintain program continuityEducation:Masters degree in a design-related disciplineANDExperience:Minimum of 10 years of professional industry experience in UX-related roleMinimum of 5 years of university teaching experienceCompetencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):Senior-level industry experience in User Experience (UX) design in a strategist or consulting roleExpertise in design research techniques including surveys, stakeholder/user interviews, usability testing, and validation strategiesDemonstrated graphic, web, app, and/or multimedia visual design capabilities leveraging industry standard toolsAPPLICATION PROCEDURES:Interested candidates should submit on-line application/CV on line: http://hr.jefferson.edu/human-resources.htmlAs part of the application process, a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, design statement and a list of three references with contact information to Interim Dean Marcia Weiss, Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce, School of Design and Engineering, Thomas Jefferson University, 4201 Henry Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144-5497.
