This role will be responsible for the monitoring and operation of process equipment used for the safe and reliable operation of the Markham, TX storage facility. This role receives direction from a shift supervisor and support from other operations, maintenance and technical personnel.

A Day in the Life

  • In line with Company policies, standards, and procedures; this position is responsible for executing operations and maintenance duties at the Markham Storage Facility.
  • These responsibilities include:
  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
  • Learn and retain process knowledge of the facility and process changes to the site to enable effective operation and detection of unusual process conditions; uses knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to co-workers
  • Exhibit personal leadership in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations, and work performance as they relate to Equistar's key focus areas which include the following: safety, the environment, quality, reliability, and cost of operation
  • Take ownership of the facility to ensure product transportation and storage results are satisfied and to ensure the site is maintained in proper operating condition
  • Record data readings, utilize plant data control systems, and observe process conditions on a continual basis to maintain good control of the facility
  • Place systems in a safe condition for maintenance work, supporting maintenance activities and communicating status to the facility supervisor and co-workers
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment and enter SAP work notifications on equipment in need of maintenance
  • Provide ideas, raise concerns, and work with other functions including pipeline management, engineering, and maintenance to improve individual and unit performance
  • Participate on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the workplace environment
  • Evaluate the facility's operating status and perform troubleshooting of process and equipment in order to ensure integrity of the pipeline and storage systems, and the timely, accurate product transportation to customers, suppliers and clients

 

This is an Operations position requiring an experienced professional with a minimum of 1-5 years relevant experience. This individual must demonstrate expert technical expertise and knowledge across a broad range of the following technology disciplines: Process Safety and Operating Discipline, Desktop/Laptop/Workstation Computing, Communications, Process Technology, Understanding of basic flow and pressure designs, and Mechanical Skills. Effective in a team concept workplace.

You Bring This Value

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of chemical plant experience
  • Must be willing to:
    • Work 12-hour rotating shifts and provide overtime coverage
    • Respond to facility call-outs
    • Work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment)

    • Work around and/or manually interact with heavy equipment
    • Work outside, year-round under various weather conditions

    • Climb heights above 25 feet by climbing stairs and vertical ladders.
