WORKING TITLE: Senior Data Analyst

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Research & Data Analysis.

As a member of the Research & Data Analysis team at the Florida Department of Corrections, our mission is to provide accurate, timely, and insightful data to support informed decision-making and policy development. We are committed to conducting thorough research and analysis to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our correctional programs and operations. Our goal is to contribute to the safety and security of our facilities and the community by delivering reliable data that drives evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Drive Project Success: Ensure all assigned projects evaluate the effectiveness of department policies, procedures, and programs, and identify areas for management improvement. Prioritize multiple projects and assess budgetary needs for timely completion.
  • Collaborate and Solve Problems: Identify and coordinate projects by consulting with senior management and analyzing data. Work with key staff to resolve any managerial or operational issues.
  • Analyze and Present Data: Perform statistical analysis for each project, document findings, and present results to senior management. Refine research methodologies based on feedback.
  • Develop Research Methods: Create and document scientific methodologies for each project, explaining how to conduct thorough analysis of specific issues. Produce comprehensive reports with conclusions, tables, and graphs.
  • Generate Specialized Reports: Compile data from research files and other sources to produce detailed statistical reports for departmental personnel, government agencies, legislative committees, and the public. Consult on technical issues and ensure data accuracy and reliability. Stay updated on corrections and criminal justice topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Seven (7) or more years of analyzing data and computer programming experience. Postsecondary education may substitute on a year-for-year bases for the required experience.
