About the role

Job Summary

This position will be part of the Business Assurance Business Continuity and Operational Readiness team with a primary focus on supporting business continuity planning for our Corewell Health East locations. Responsible for working with department leadership to develop, maintain, and implement business continuity strategies to anticipate, address and mitigate the effects of various business interruptions. Responsible for completing risk assessments, business impact analysis, strategy selection and documentation of business continuity procedures. Responsible for the education of completed plans and for the planning, conducting, and debriefing of exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies, updating procedures and plans. Provides project management, often leading work on new implementations, incident response, and handling multiple projects simultaneously. Team members in this position are effective and self-sufficient, and regularly provide guidance and training to team members and leaders across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Develops business continuity plans for recovery decision making and communications; continuity of information services and other critical department processes; or temporary shut-down of non-critical departments that ensure continuity of operation, governance, and compliance with accrediting/regulatory agency started.
  • Complete annual exercise planning of the business continuity plans developed (or as required by accrediting agencies) in compliance with federal exercise programs (Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program - HSEEP). Reviews and implements exercise lessons learned into disaster recovery strategies and plans.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of business interruption and other risks caused by business, regulatory, or industry-specific change initiatives.
  • Complete an annual business continuity risk assessment and analyze impact on, and risk to, essential business functions to identify acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements.
  • Manages business continuity education and training based on a completed education needs assessment within each identified critical department.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency management, or another relevant discipline

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in a related field
