The Paid Marketing team at Zillow is responsible for defining and executing media strategy across the marketing funnel to drive measurable impact across the business. We deliver integrated paid media campaigns across TV, Digital, Social, Audio, Search, and emerging channels to support Zillow's growth. Our team operates at the intersection of strategic marketing, performance optimization, and brand storytelling. We partner deeply with Brand, Product Marketing, Creative, Analytics, Data Science, and agency teams to deliver high-impact, data-driven, customer-centric media strategies.

About the role

Zillow is seeking an innovative and highly strategic Senior Director of Media Planning to lead omni-channel media efforts across our Buyer, Seller, and Brand marketing portfolios. This leader will be responsible for shaping the paid media vision across Zillow’s highest priority customer segments, guiding large-scale media investments that deliver both short-term results and long-term brand value.

This role requires a proven media leader with deep experience in full-funnel planning, operational excellence, and a keen understanding of performance and brand dynamics. You’ll lead a high-performing team and agency partners to translate complex business needs into impactful media campaigns that inspire action.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead Zillow’s Buyer, Seller, and Brand media strategy across all paid channels (TV, Video, Audio, Digital, Search, Social, OOH, etc.), ensuring alignment to business goals and marketing objectives.

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team of media strategists, planners, buyers, and optimization experts, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Partner with Zillow’s marketing leadership team and cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize media investments, ensure intersection of media & creative, define measurement strategies, and deliver transparent performance insights across initiatives.

  • Develop and evolve Zillow’s media planning frameworks, establishing rigorous audience-first and objective-based approaches for campaign design and evaluation.

  • Drive thought leadership in media innovation, testing new platforms, formats, and technologies to stay ahead of market trends and consumer behavior.

  • Shape Zillow’s internal media operating model and roadmap, aligning across Creative, Brand, Lifecycle, CRM, Product Marketing, and Analytics

  • Own large-scale budget allocation decisions and forecasting across buyer, seller, and brand campaigns, balancing short-term performance and long-term brand equity.

  • Provide strategic oversight and operational leadership of all media agency partnerships, driving accountability, integration, and excellence across planning, buying, and reporting.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $201,400.00 - $321,600.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • 15+ years of media strategy experience, with a strong mix of brand and performance planning across channels. Deep leadership within a complex, multi-brand or multi-product environment is strongly preferred.

  • 7+ years managing high-performing teams with demonstrated ability to lead both senior individual contributors and managers.

  • Strategic operator with a proven track record of executive influence, cross-functional leadership, and budget accountability.

  • Data-native mindset with strong grasp of media analytics, incrementality, and performance measurement; comfortable interpreting data and advocating for insights with senior audiences
