This position exists to manage the Residential Life front office operations, prioritizing multiple demands and determining effective solutions in response to students, parents, staff, and other office constituents for an auxiliary department serving 2700+ residential students with an annual budget of $30 million. This position requires understanding of, and the ability to explain policies, procedures, and associated rationale. Management of student payroll for 220+ student employees, reconciliation of 100+ purchasing cards, administrative support for special projects requiring initiative, technical skills, and independent decision-making, provision of lead work for an OAS, and ability to effectively resolve concerns of upset or angry callers are all key components.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to utilize customer service skills on the phone, in person, and online sufficient enough to effectively communicate and elicit information with tact and diplomacy in difficult situations.
Skill in providing lead work to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, while correcting errors or problems.
Knowledge of word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, including but not limited to, spreadsheets, tables, charts, graphs, letters, memos, reports, meeting minutes, etc.
Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals; calculate percentages and use simple formulas.
Typing/Keyboarding (40 wpm/5 or less errors) skills sufficient to perform typing tasks with speed and accuracy.
English (speaking, writing, reading) sufficient to perform the job duties described above using reading, writing, and speaking skills.
Preferred Qualification
Strong statistical, technical, and record-keeping skills sufficient to manage a complex database and accurately create and process reports for various constituent groups.
Accuracy and strong attention to detail sufficient to input data quickly and accurately, check input and output data for completeness, accuracy, and discrepancies.
Ability to understand a wide variety of complicated administrative procedures and policies, laws, and/or rules and regulations, and explain the same to customers in a manner that is understandable.
Ability to learn and be skillful in working with student record software.
Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, and protect them.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
