FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
  • An associate's degree (or higher); or
  • A passing score on the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have current government issued identification

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

7 Hours/185 Days

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, prepares for and works with individual students and small groups of students to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher. Assists teacher(s) with various classroom activities. Reports to assigned supervisor.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students.
  • Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
  • Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
  • Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
  • Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
  • Provides additional academic support to special education students who are either ready for more challenging work or are in need of remediation towards their IEP goals.
  • Assists in building capacity for small groups and individualized instruction in either a push-in or pull-out model.
  • Assists in bridging the "curriculum gap" between the general education classroom and the special education classroom through developing knowledge, language, and strategies of the workshop model for ELA and mathematics through the support of instructional coaches.
  • Push-in to general education classrooms when the opportunity is appropriate in order to work more closely on weak areas or strategy usage with students who receive resource services.
  • Communicates with faculty and staff to discuss and meet student needs (RtI interventionists, Lead Interventionist, MLP teachers, special education teachers, general education teachers, and any other additional supporting staff)
