About the position:

The Sustainable Finance Lead Americas is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the team. They will drive the franchise’s, pitching, origination, structuring and execution of sustainable products efforts within Wholesale Banking in coordination with its Sectors bankers and product partners. The Sustainable Finance Lead Americas is also responsible for positioning ING as a thought leader in the space, representing ING in industry forums and events, as well as setting the tone and direction in a constantly and rapidly evolving market.

In addition, the Sustainable Finance Lead Americas will be responsible for regional representation in the WB Sectors Sustainability Leads Platform and for the roll out of broader sustainability deliverables in the Americas region.

About the department:

The Americas' Sustainable Finance ("SF") team of currently [6] FTEs provides advisory, structuring and execution of sustainable transactions and solutions (such as green, social, sustainable, sustainability linked) across all of ING’s sectors and products. As the sustainable finance market continues to evolve, the SF team functions as the main entry point between clients seeking ways to decarbonize their businesses, advance their sustainability goals, and structure the right financial solutions to support these goals. As such the team is also equipped with the expertise to support regional activities of the Sustainable Value Chains initiative.

Responsibilities :

  • Deliver on ING’s volume mobilized through origination of sustainable finance mandates across products and Sectors
  • Ensure that the team delivers credible and successful green, social and sustainability linked transactions, from origination to closing, proactively liaising with lenders and investors and maintain INGs lead role in ensuring market integrity.
  • Manage a team of highly motivated individuals and maintain a high performing team which delivers on institutional KPIs.
  • Join GLCs to i) ensure net zero considerations are included at early stage ii) ensure transactions which qualify for sustainable finance are properly flagged iii) advocate for sustainable/net zero aligned transactions when needed
  • Drive innovations in new sustainable finance products and structures to solve real issues and identify new growth opportunities, including the activities of Sustainable Value Chains and Sustainable Structured Finance.
  • Support the growth plan of Sustainable Investments in Americas, sharing the existing SF expertise to build & embed knowledge, expertise, origination and networking capabilities.
  • Coordinate with the WB Sectors' Sustainability Leads platform, ensuring that ING’s WB’s sustainability ambitions are implemented in the Americas. Represent ING in relevant internal and external conferences, roundtables and associations.

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications / Education:

  • You are a graduate or post-graduate degree holder in Business/Finance or other relevant disciplines (additional sustainability related academic background a positive)

Experience / Knowledge:

  • You have 7+ years of commercial experience (ideally both lending as well as debt capital markets, deal structuring, and sustainability related roles) with minimum 5 years of active client-facing front-office experience
  • You are fluent in English (verbal and written).
