Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

What You Will Do:
The Inpatient Financial Counselor is responsible for rounding on inpatients and making room visits to obtain signature/verbal consents and all other compliance forms, ensuring patient understands their insurance benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, out of pocket, and covered services. Provides education and information about available assistance programs for the uninsured or under insured at UAB. Excellent communication and customer skills are required for this position.

• Explains financial options and provides financial counseling to patients.

• Provides patient with a personalized treatment cost estimate.

• Interviews patients to obtain accurate demographic and financial information from self-pay and high-risk patients.

• Explains financial options and provides financial counseling to patients.

• Serves as an internal resource for reimbursement questions.

• Communicates daily with coworkers, hospital, and management regarding account progress and or issues.

• Answer calls from a phone queue regarding patient account inquiries and financial assistance.

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

What You Will Need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 1-3 years relevant work experience

What Would Be Nice to Have:

• 1-3 years Insurance verification experience

• 1-3 years of collections experience in a hospital environment

• Excellent customer service
