We currently have available contract/per diem Pediatric Physical Therapist positions for our Children’s Center located in Commack. You will be responsible for the evaluation and treatment of those students who have been referred to by CSE/CPSE, and a physician's script has been obtained and assigned by the Clinical Supervisor. Guidance and assistance will be provided as necessary by Clinical Supervisor and Lead Physical Therapists at The Children’s Center.
In this role, you will:
- Evaluate students with orthopedic, neuro-physiological, and/or developmental deficits, upon assignment by the Clinical Supervisor.
- Formulate a treatment program based on data learned through the evaluation process.
- Handle the treatment of these students using physical agents, appropriate exercise, stretching, joint mobilization, or other therapeutic techniques.
- Communicate therapeutic procedures to parents, teachers, and other staff members.
- Attend meetings with other staff members to convey and receive information concerning student care.
- Participate in in-services.
- Record student status, therapeutic interventions recommended, and progress noted through proper note writing.
- Consult with equipment technicians and other dealers.
- Measure and arrive at appropriate specifications for appliances prescribed by the physicians.
- Provide a safe, supervised, nurturing environment for the students we serve.
- Complete all required documentation and paperwork in a thorough and timely fashion.
- Train and in-service employees in work-related functions.
- Provide guidance and support for all departmental staff.
- Ensure that updated and accurate prescriptions are maintained for each student on their current caseload.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher from a college or university accredited by APTA. Two years "pediatric/rehabilitation" experience preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
