About the role

At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, we are a mission-driven organization dedicated to championing the health and well-being of our members and the communities we serve.

Our team is the power behind that promise. And, as the industry rapidly evolves and we seek ways to optimize business processes and customer experiences, there’s no greater time for forward-thinking professionals like you to join us in delivering on it! As a member of Team Blue, you’ll find purpose, opportunities and the support you need to build a meaningful career and make a powerful impact in our community.

This role plays a critical part in delivering reliable, scalable, and modern technology solutions that support how the business operates and evolves. The Software Engineer designs, builds, and maintains enterprise-grade applications, APIs, and integrations using .NET, Azure services, and modern engineering patterns. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role delivers both new capabilities and enhancements to existing systems, ensuring solutions are performant, secure, and aligned to enterprise architecture. With a strong focus on integration, the engineer enables seamless connectivity across CRM, enrollment, billing, and partner systems while supporting automation and orchestration through services such as Azure Functions and Logic Apps.

The role also embraces AI-enabled engineering as a core capability, leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve development velocity, code quality, and operational insights. Through full lifecycle ownership—from design through continuous optimization, the Software Engineer builds resilient, maintainable solutions while reducing operational risk through strong documentation, shared ownership, and proactive incident analysis. This is a versatile engineering role that adapts across platforms, extends capabilities within Dynamics and Power Platform where appropriate, and consistently drives efficiency, scalability, and business confidence.

The ideal candidate will live within driving distance of the Omaha, Nebraska office. This position allows remote flexibility but will have 1 day per week in the office.

What you'll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain enterprisegrade software solutions using .NET, APIs, and modern integration patterns.

  • Develop and support Power Platform and Dynamics extensions where appropriate, including workflows, plugins, and custom components.

  • Design and implement Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions to support eventdriven processing, orchestration, automation, and system integrations.

  • Build and maintain external services and integrations that connect CRM, enrollment, billing, and operational systems.

  • Leverages AI-assisted engineering to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance operational efficiency through automated code generation, testing, and incident analysis.

  • Engineer integrations across systems such as billing platforms, broker tools, provider tools, and external partners.

  • Support data movement, orchestration, and transformation across operational workflows.

  • Reduce singlethreaded knowledge through documentation, runbooks, and shared ownership.

  • Support highcomplexity incidents and root cause analysis across platforms.

  • On-Call Rotation: Approx every 8-12 weeks for a 2-week period.

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent experience

  • 2-4 years of software development experience
