About the role

Description

The primary job function is to assist the medical provider in providing high quality, efficient and service-oriented patient care demonstrating our core values. Under the direction of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Lead, assist with direct patient care. If applicable, responsible for driving the mobile medical unit, minor maintenance checks on the mobile medical unit, and cleaning the unit. Assists with patient registration and exam room turnover. Upholds all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and other regulatory compliance and safety requirements. Stays current on all credentialing requirements. The demands of the position may include travel to assigned clinics and occasional organization-wide activities.

Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as treatment records, test results, referrals, medical guidance, correspondence, protocols, and procedure manuals. Ability to write treatment notes and encounters. Ability to speak effectively to all team members and levels within the organization.


Reasoning & Mathematical skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Physical Demands – Repetitive motions and routine use of standard office equipment such as medical devices, computers, telephones, copiers/scanners, filing cabinets. Ability to see, speak, walk, hear, stand, use of hand/fingers to handle or feel; climb stairs, stoop, carry/lifting to 20 lbs. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent standing and movement in chairs, in and out of patient examination rooms. Ability to physically conduct all assessment and treatment measures of patients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. It includes open offices, office equipment, such as phones, computers, printer/copy machines, and waiting areas. The demands of the position include travel to assigned clinics and occasional organization-wide activities.

Requirements


Education:
Must have a certificate of completion from an accredited school of training for medical assistants.


License/ Certifications:
Provider level basic life support (BLS) from AHA approved program.

Valid Driver’s License.


Experience:
Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Medical Assistant or equivalent.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates the ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish without an interpreter.

Demonstrates interpersonal/cultural sensitivity and work with a diverse and often underserved population.

Effective written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization and with vendors. ?

Highly organized with strong time management skills, being able to perform simultaneous tasks, prioritize them effectively and follow through quickly.

Proficiency with EMR systems.

Available to work Saturdays as business needs dictate.
