Associate Scientific Director
Remote; The Ideal candidate should be based in the EST/CST time zone
Associate Scientific Directors effectively lead a variety of projects for their assigned clients. They serve as medical experts across various disease states, understanding each therapeutic landscape and related scientific data. They are responsible for developing high-quality medical and commercial content that supports the strategic product positioning of their clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Developing high-quality written materials that are scientifically accurate and appropriate to the target audience
- Accepting responsibility for content created across a variety of projects, including but not limited to, advisory boards, promo slide presentations, and scripts
- Ensuring that written materials meet communication objectives, client specifications, and industry guidelines
- Collaborating with senior management and project and account teams, on the planning and execution of assigned work to ensure appropriate communication throughout the life of a project
- Incorporating necessary rounds of revisions, addressing all stakeholder questions/comments, facilitating alignment, resolving queries and making content suggestions related to content development on assigned brands
- Understanding expectations regarding budgeted hours and deadlines and communicating with team about these as needed
- Maintaining scientific integrity of content during project implementation
- The ability to travel and meet with clients as required to maintain effective relationships
- 10% potential domestic/global travel
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Doctoral-level degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) preferred
- Experience working in the areas of type 2 diabetes and obesity a PLUS!
- 3+ years of experience in medical communications, medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, medical affairs, content production (promotional slide presentations and ad board decks), or equivalent
- Superior communication skills (both written and verbal) and a proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a variety of audiences including clients, patients, and the external scientific community
- Familiarity with FDA, AMA, and PhRMA Guidelines as they pertain to the core business and product legalities
- Ability to foster integration, collaboration, and teamwork with account team members
- Ability to apply experience to have a clear and full understanding of evolving medical education policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Ability to interact with third parties (other agency vendors, professional organizations, societies) where appropriate
- Understanding of a variety of therapeutic categories as required, with the ability to learn new areas quickly
- Flair for managing multiple competing priorities with an ability to delegate, prioritize, problem-solve, and set expectations
- Confidence and professional demeanor when interacting with clients and key experts
- Acceptance and application of constructive feedback from the scientific medical director, authors, and clients
- Enthusiasm, team-player attitude, and self-motivation
- Complete and comprehensive knowledge of the professional education (on-label) process
- Proficiency in performing PubMed searches and using MS365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
Travel Requirements
- The ability to travel and meet with clients as required to maintain effective relationships
- 10% potential domestic/global travel
