Our East Environmental business is looking for an Environmental Project Manager to join the team in Florida as a Team Lead! This position is an integral part of our environmental services group and requires a diverse array of skills and abilities to provide technical management of environmental assessment, remediation, compliance, or due diligence projects, to support the growth of the practice, and to accomplish the objectives of the team.
In this role, you will be tasked with supporting several Florida Department of Environmental Protection contracts and managing GHD’s existing environmental projects in Florida and surrounding states in the southeast. This role will require a strong technical background, the ability to work across GHD’s markets while supporting projects ranging from environmental assessment, natural resource impact assessments, remediation, compliance, and/or due diligence.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Budgeting and Costing: Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Manage a segment of the organization's data collection and analysis activities.
- Document Preparation: Develop and write materials that are highly visible, such as sensitive press releases or speeches to critical audiences.
- Leadership and Direction: Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
- Legal: Design, develop, and deliver the organization's legal service with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Operations Management: Oversee an operational area with guidance from senior colleagues. Could involve responsibility for development or delivery (or both).
- Performance Management: Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
- Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Research: Manage a significant portion of the organization's or institution's research program. This could involve being responsible for development or delivery or both.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and/or deliver elements of a strategic planning system with guidance from senior colleagues.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Natural Sciences, Geological Engineering or related field
- PE or PG will be highly regarded
- At least 15 years of experience analyzing geological and hydrological data, developing groundwater models and simulations, assessing groundwater contamination and proposing remediation plans
- Collaborative background and comfort working with engineers and environmental scientists
- Project experience in federal contracts beneficial
- Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus
