Job Title: Director, Operations (Global Fulfillment and Logistics)

Location:  Jacksonville, Florida-- On site

 

Primary Purpose: The Director of Operations will play a key role in maintaining the success of a 3 shift/7 day a week fulfillment operation across two facilities in Jacksonville, FL, (1.2 million sq. ft total). The Director will guide a talented team of Operations Managers on different shifts and departments responsible for production efficiency, safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. This position will have a significant focus on developing direct reports, cultivating engagement, providing essential tools and resources, setting a standard, and providing a vision for the team to follow.

 

This role will report to the VP of Fulfillment and Logistics.

 

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in distribution operations to...

  • Lead a team of 4 direct reports and roughly 400 indirect reports across two facilities
  • Collaborate with the VP of Fulfillment and Logistics, facility leaders, business partners, and corporate teams regularly on operation specific and company-wide initiatives
  • Coach and develop direct reports through company values and competencies
  • Responsible for managing annual operating plan (Yearly Operations Budget)
  • Provide strategic direction and drive overall fulfillment and logistics capabilities with a focus on providing exceptional customer service levels
  • Foster an environment committed to promoting industry best practices; identify, recommend, and execute actions to maximize operational and service efficiencies
  • Ensure all productivity, quality, cost, safety, motivation objectives are accomplished
  • Cultivate a safe and positive work environment for all employees
  • Own and develop strategies for meeting future facility and business goals/objectives
  • Report performance against weekly and monthly goals
  • Manage projects while overseeing daily operations
  • Hire and develop managers to create succession plan for the facility
  • Work in an environment with varied noise levels and temperatures

 

The accomplished individual will possess...

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a supervisory/management level position in a warehouse/distribution center environment
  • Ability to manage and direct team functions independently
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Required to be computer literate with a working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • A proven success record in supervising, training, coaching/motivating, problem solving and developing team members
  • Minimum 4 years experience managing budgets
  • Minimum 4 years experience working with WMS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to travel 10-25%

 

An outstanding professional will have...

  • A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years experience in a leadership position in a warehouse/distribution, machinery, aerospace, cosmetics, medical, production environments
  • Experience in process improvement, Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen
  • Strong influence management and communication skills, ability to gain organizational buy-in
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, form conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, finance, planning, and project cost forecasting
  • Adjust to competing and shifting prioritie
