Job Description
Specialty Sales Positions are responsible for promoting and selling door, window, or cabinet products. Generally, a Specialty salesperson will fall under one of these three categories, with some opportunities for cross-training. A Specialty salesperson will utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with potential customers, understand their needs, and recommend the most suitable solutions for the job or project. Ideally, a Specialty Sales candidate has a strong background in sales, a deep understanding of the door, window, or cabinet industry, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Base Wage - The base wage for this department will match the starting wage for yard, sales, and inventory positions on the LK, GL, and BV scale ($21.00 - $22 per hour). $22 per hour is equivalent to a base salary of $45,760 annually. Based upon historical sales performance by our Specialty Sales team members, this position could make anywhere from $65,000 - $80,000 annually.
- If the starting wage for these locations is increased, all specialists will receive the same increase.
- Base wages will be paid on normal Dunn Lumber pay period scheduling. Commissioned Product Groups
- Cabinets: 7.50%
- Windows: 9.25%
- Doors: 9.50%
- Millwork: 10%
- Commission Payout - Specialists are eligible for commission payment on invoiced orders only and they will be paid out once a month, on the second paycheck of the month.
- If a specialist leaves Dunn Lumber, they will be paid commissions on orders that invoice on or before their last day worked.
- If a specialist transfers to another Dunn Lumber department, eligibility for commission payout will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Annual Sales Bonus - New in 2025, we are offering an annual sales bonus. This will be a 1% bonus based on a specialist’s annual Gross Margin on Orders Entered (GMOE). Once a specialist’s GMOE exceeds a predetermined threshold, they will receive 1% on all invoiced GMOE dollars. This payout will be part of the profit share payout timeline for all other eligible Dunn Lumber employees.
- Example: Dunn Lumber sets an annual bonus threshold of $500,000.00 GMOE for the year. In this case, a specialist who invoices $600,000.00 in GMOE for the year will receive a $6,000.00 bonus.
- The annual bonus threshold will be evaluated by the Executive Team and Specialty Sales Manager each year, and this number will fluctuate year to year based on business forecasts.
- Commission Adjustments - A specialist will not be penalized with a commission adjustment when the windows, doors, cabinets, or any commissionable product is damaged, broken, or mishandled by another party.
