What We Need

We are looking for a Lead Technical Animator to be responsible for designing, making, and maintaining animation systems that drive the poses of our characters. This will include features that support major gameplay mechanics, secondary animations, and procedural motions.

You will be a communication hub in addition to the technical aspect of the job. You’ll need to ensure that everyone has the information they need to be successful. This role is focused on technical animation, but will also work with design and engineering teams to translate needs across those subject areas.

What you will do

• Creating high-quality game animation
• Implement animation in game in our Unreal animation system and use blueprints.
• Analyze animation system feature requirements of a given gameplay request and implement them directly or collaborate with Animation engineers to implement them.
• Set up blends, overlays and events.
• Work with Technical Artists to add procedural animation elements
• Work with animators to help them unlock the potential of our game technology
• Troubleshoot and debug animation issues in game
• Create scripts & tools to assist the animation team in the creation process

Who we think will be a great fit

• 3+ years of experience in big game or film studio
• Good problem solving and communication skills
• Experience with Maya
• Scripting or programming experience (Python, Mel, Blueprint)
• Willingness to learn animation technology in game engines such as Unreal or Unity (we use Unreal)

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $105,000 and $170,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
