Position Summary:
Ampersand is currently seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and detail-oriented Research Associate I/II to join our Protein Sciences team. This is a bench facing role and you will be responsible for performing experiments, analyzing data, and presenting data to your supervisor and to cross-functional team in an effective and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with mammalian cell culture, protein expression, purification and analytical QC using diverse biochemical methods such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting. This is a unique opportunity wherein the candidate will be responsible to assist multiple novel research projects along with in vitro and in vivo mAb discovery campaigns. The candidate is expected to have strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills which will enable them to integrate with our highly cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities
- Express and purify recombinant proteins from mammalian cultures.
- Routinely perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, plasmid DNA preparation and bacterial transformation
- Execute small- and large-scale protein purifications using immobilized metal affinity, ion-exchange, and size exclusion chromatography.
- Characterize recombinant proteins using SDS-PAGE, WB, protein quantitation, HPLC, ELISA and other biochemical/biophysical assays such as BLI and SPR to determine protein purity and function.
- Capture primary data and document work as required in Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), maintaining up to date records.
- Present data routinely to the Protein Sciences group and other Ampersand teams.
Qualifications/Experience
- BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biomedical engineering, or related field.
- 0-2 years of academic or biotech/pharma laboratory experience is desirable.
- Experience with recombinant protein expression and purification using mammalian cell lines is preferred.
- Experience with FPLC systems and with affinity, IEX and SEC protein purification methods is preferred.
- Experience with general in vitro cell culture techniques is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills along with excellent attention to details is a must.
