Job Description:
Conducts fitting, ordering, adjusting and minor repair of eyeglasses and contact lenses. Coordinates care from receiving the eyewear prescription, measurements, ordering and working successfully with eyewear vendors and labs to dispense eyewear.
Principle Responsibilities
- Customer service and coordination.
- Maintains customer and vendor schedules.
- Answers calls, questions and concerns from customers and suppliers.
- Assists patients with eyewear returns and minor adjustments.
- Performs eyewear measurements and completes the prescription order.
- Assists in teaching contact lens insertion, removal & care of contact lenses.
- Place orders for contact lenses, as per doctors prescription.
- Receive contact lenses and call patients letting them know of product arrival
- Ensures trial contact lens supplies are monitored and maintained
- Collects retail payments and daily reconciliation.
- Department and inventory organization and maintenance.
- Works with lab and vendors to maintain a current, quality selection of eyewear.
- Orders supplies and frames to maintain optical shop inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years optician experience
- 2+ years knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures
Licenses/Certifications
- Certified Optician - American Board of Opticianry required upon hire
