Software Engineer, Thyme Box
Thyme CareAbout the role
OUR MISSION
We exist to create a more connected, compassionate, and confident experience for people with cancer and those who care for them. We make it easier to get answers, access high-quality care quickly, and feel supported throughout treatment and beyond.
Today, Thyme Care is a market-leading value-based oncology care enabler, partnering with national and regional health plans, providers, and employers to deliver better outcomes and lower costs for thousands of people across the country. Our model combines high-touch human support with powerful technology and AI to bring together everyone involved in a person’s cancer journey: caregivers, oncologists, health plans, and employers.
As a tech-native organization, we believe technology should strengthen the human connection at the center of care. Through data science, automation, and AI, we simplify complexity, improve collaboration, and help care teams focus on what matters most: supporting people through cancer.
Looking ahead, our vision is bold: to become a household name in cancer care, where every person diagnosed asks for Thyme Care by name. If you’re inspired to make cancer care more human and to help reimagine what’s possible, we’d love to meet you. Together, we can build a future where every person with cancer feels truly cared for, in every moment that matters.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Software Engineer working on Thyme Box, you will be a key part of our ever-growing technical team developing our proprietary internal care management platform. Thyme Box is the primary tool that enables 600+ Care Team members to deliver clinical and non-clinical navigation services to members every day.
Additionally, you will:
- Connect with and add to our collaborative, agile team and quickly develop a deep understanding of our tech stack.
- Wrap your head around Thyme Care’s business model and success metrics, and develop a deep empathy for the challenges our clinical care team faces in supporting members.
- Independently plan, build, and deliver multiple features within the Thyme Box product, from concept through launch and iteration.
- Partner closely with Product to scope experiments and shape new product ideas that improve outcomes for our members.
- Play a key role in building the technology that enables our care team to surface ancillary benefit programs and services more efficiently.
- Help create an intuitive user interface that allows our care team to triage patient touch points, from hospitalizations to changes in chemotherapy.
- Integrate and surface data from multiple sources to give the care team timely, actionable insights into their patients’ needs.
WHAT YOU’VE DONE
- You have 3+ years of experience building, shipping, and supporting software in production.
- You’ve worked in fast-paced, early stage environments. You’re comfortable iterating quickly to make decisions and deliver value to users.
- You have strong experience with web development. You’ve built single-page applications in stacks similar to ours: Vue.js/TypeScript, FastAPI/Python, and Postgres.
- You’ve taken ownership of features from idea to production, including design, implementation, testing, and ongoing improvements.
- You’ve collaborated closely with engineers, product, and cross-functional partners, and can clearly communicate technical tradeoffs and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have, but not required:
- You’ve used and contributed to AI tooling that supports developer productivity, code quality, and engineering best practices.
- You have prior experience working in healthcare or health tech.
WHAT LEADS TO SUCCESS
Curiosity. You have a drive to understand how things work and love sharing that knowledge with others. (Find out more about our engineering team’s culture of learning here!)
Comfort with ambiguity. You feel excited about working in fast-paced environments, and ambitious startups. You know to expect ambiguity and ever-changing priorities, and feel up for the challenge.
Collaboration. You know that building great products requires a great team. You enjoy working with and learning from your colleagues, both technical and non-technical alike.
People-first. Thyme Care’s mission and members matter to you, deeply.
Commitment to inclusivity. You care deeply about building an inclusive culture at Thyme Care. You recognize a history of inequity in tech and believe that we must build a team that reflects the diversity of the population we serve.
