About the Role:
The E-commerce UX/UI Lead is responsible for overseeing the design and strategy for an e-commerce platform. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, engineering, and data analytics to create intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly digital experiences. The goal is to drive increased conversion rates, customer satisfaction, and long-term loyalty by designing seamless and engaging online shopping journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive the overall UX strategy for the e-commerce platform, aligning with business goals, user needs, and technological capabilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define the user experience vision, focusing on enhancing usability, accessibility, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Lead the creation of user personas, user journeys, and customer experience mapping to inform design decisions.
- Conduct user research through various methods such as usability testing, surveys, user interviews, and analytics to gather insights and inform design direction.
- Analyze user data, customer feedback, and market trends to identify pain points, opportunities for improvement, and new design solutions.
- Use A/B testing and data-driven insights to validate design decisions and continuously optimize the user experience.
- Ensuring consistency in design quality, adherence to brand guidelines, and effective collaboration with product and engineering teams.
- Define and maintain the e-commerce design system, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across all digital touch points.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and high-fidelity designs for new features, product pages, checkout processes, and other e-commerce experiences.
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketers, and other stakeholders to prioritize features and design improvements based on business and user needs.
- Present and advocate for design concepts, user experience research, and design solutions to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs and maintain a high-quality user experience throughout the development lifecycle.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the e-commerce platform’s user experience, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing conversion funnels.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, integrating innovative design practices into the user experience strategy.
- Ensure the platform is accessible and provides an inclusive experience for all users, including those with disabilities.
- Advocate for the customer at every stage of the product development cycle, ensuring that the user experience is central to all decision-making processes.
- Utilize both qualitative and quantitative data to continuously refine the user experience and improve customer retention.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or senior role in an e-commerce environment.
- Proven track record of designing successful e-commerce websites or apps, with experience optimizing conversion rates, usability, and customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of web and mobile design principles, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and the development process to effectively communicate with developers.
- Experience with UX research methodologies, including usability testing, surveys, focus groups, and user interviews.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data from analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) and A/B testing tools to inform design decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and present design concepts to stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex design problems while balancing user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of UX/UI projects, particularly e-commerce and digital product experiences, demonstrating problem-solving abilities, design process, and outcomes.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment.
