Nursing Administrator, RN - Mount Sinai West - Full-time - Evening Shift (3 pm - 11 pm, EOW 12-hour night shift)

The Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience.   S/he supports Nurse Managers, Associate Nursing Directors, and senior nursing leadership in the management of clinical units/specialty areas, fulfilling responsibilities for hospital and patient care services on assigned shifts.

Mount Sinai West - Full-time - 8-hour evening shifts during the week (3 pm to 11 pm), Every other week 12-hour night shift is required.

1. Leads nursing practice using the tenets of the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care and the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing for the promotion of the patient experience.
2. Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) and role models expected behaviors.
3. Ensures the integration of PHR into clinical activities to enhance Relationship Centered Care.
4. Validates staff members round hourly on all patients by direct observation and patient feedback.
5. Assesses staff competency in PHR and provides consistent meaningful feedback with more focused feedback as needed.
6. Oversees that rounding occurs on all patients on shift.
7. Insures that staff huddles occur at the start of each shift, identifying high-risk patients who require special attention
8. Communicates to nursing leadership concerns or issues identified during huddle and throughout shift.
9. Communicates quantitative and qualitative information regarding the patient experience and staff engagement to the staff and the interdisciplinary health care team that leads to the development and implementation of an action plan
10. Empowers staff to use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients’ perceptions of care.
11. Provides input into the management and retention of qualified staff.
12. Serves as a professional role model and preceptor for new leadership staff and students.

 

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing and Masters degree in nursing or health-related field or be enrolled in a program  preferred

Experience Requirements

3-5 years minimum demonstrated clinical and nursing administrative expertise in the area of nursing practice assigned.

Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)

Licensed as a registered nurse, Issuing Agency: Department of Health/Office of Professions in the state of New York.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) with-in 12 months of hire
