Women's Health nursing offers a diverse and rewarding clinical experience that extends far beyond routine office visits.
In this role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive reproductive health services, including contraceptive counseling, pregnancy testing, preconception education, and family planning care.
- Perform nursing assessments and assist with well-woman examinations, cervical cancer screenings, breast health education, and gynecologic services.
- Support prenatal and postpartum patients through education, follow-up care, and coordination with obstetric providers.
- Conduct STI screening, testing, treatment, counseling, and partner services in accordance with state and public health guidelines.
- Administer immunizations, including HPV, Hepatitis B, Tdap, and other recommended vaccines while maintaining documentation in the North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR).
- Deliver patient-centered education on reproductive life planning, breastfeeding, healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and women's wellness.
- Coordinate referrals for specialty services, diagnostic testing, and community resources while ensuring timely follow-up of abnormal results.
- Utilize electronic medical records and public health information systems to provide safe, accurate, and efficient patient care.
- Provide telephone and in-person nursing triage, strengthening your clinical judgment and decision-making skills with the support of experienced public health nurses.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, health educators, case managers, interpreters, and community organizations to provide comprehensive, coordinated care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical competency development, and emergency preparedness activities that strengthen public health services throughout the community.
