About the role

Description

 Position will be traveling to places in Ellettsville, Martinsville, and Mooresville. Must be willing to drive the mobile unit if needed (training provided).What you’ll do as a Mobile Unit Medical Assistant: Perform a variety of patient care services at HealthNet Inc.'s Mobile Unit. 

  • Collect patient information.
  • Call patients for next day appointments.
  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, medical record and patients for clinic visit and assist providers in patient exams and treatments.
  • Assist with examination procedures.
  • Perform general lab work.
  • Administer injections and immunizations, and phlebotomy.
  • Provide patient education and clerical support.

Mobile Unit team structure:

  • Driver, Medical Assistant and Family Nurse Practitioner. 
  • Medical Assistant is crossed trained to drive and register patients.
  • Our driver registers patients and helps maintain the unit (water, oil changes, tanks, gas, cleaning). 
  • Must be willing to drive the mobile unit if needed (training provided).

Where you’ll work as a Mobile Unit Medical Assistant:

  • Focusing on Marion, Monroe and Morgan Counties. 
  • Position can ride the mobile unit or travel on their own to locations. 
  • 2 days a week in Martinsville at food pantry and domestic violence shelter. 
  • 1 day a week in Ellettsville, Governor Park Apartments. 
  • 1 day a week with our Homeless Initiative Program Team at Garfield Park. 

When you’ll work as a Mobile Unit Medical Assistant:

  • Full-time, 40 hours. 
  • Typical workday 7am-5pm Monday-Thursday, no lunch hour, some drive time included. 
  • One Saturday a month and occasional evenings.

Requirements

What you’ll need as a Mobile Unit Medical Assistant: 

  • Currently not sponsoring work visa. 
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA within one month of hire.
  • Requires completion of high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires successful completion of an accredited educational program for the medical assistant.
  • Requires equivalency if presenting a foreign degree.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
  • IN State License.
