DTU Nanolab is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to fill the role of Professor in Plasma Aided Nanotechnology. This is a unique opportunity to establish a leading research group focused on plasma-based processes for the growth, patterning, and functionalization of novel functional materials and nanostructures.
Nanofabrication has passed the realm of traditional semiconductor manufacturing and has among other areas ventured into photonics and most recently also quantum technology. Especially the latter prompts a demand for novel structures made of new material systems. To exploit the desired properties of these new materials, new deposition and etching methods have to be explored. Plasma systems are an indispensable tool for the deposition and structuring of the majority of these material systems. As many of these novel materials depend on chemistries that do not necessarily allow straight forward gaseous deposition or removal with the required control and precision, significant research is need to establish the required plasma processes and process environments.
As one of the leading university owned cleanroom facilities in Europe, DTU Nanolab has the ambition to be in the forefront of processing novel material systems, which require among other things the ability to construct novel or significantly modify existing fabrication equipment to comply to the specific requirements posed by e.g. quantum devices.
The successful candidate is expected to have shown the ability to conceptualize and built novel tools for material etch and deposition based on a demonstrated solid understanding and creative utilization of plasma physics. This background combined with the opportunities given by DTU Nanolab will lead to the establishment of a leading research group in the field of plasma aided nanotechnology. It is furthermore expected that the candidate will share his or her enthusiasm for the field with students on all levels through inspiring teaching and motivating supervision.
You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels.
DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead cutting-edge research in plasma aided nanotechnology.
- Supervise PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
- Collaborate with international research teams.
- Contribute to the development of DTU Nanolab's Plasma Lab infrastructure.
- Teaching on all academic levels.
Qualifications:
- A PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Proven track record of high-impact research in plasma processes.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in supervising research students and managing projects.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
