As an AVP, Business Insights & Product Performance for Personal Lines (PL), you’ll serve as an inspiring leader for a team that is responsible for driving an analytical approach to assess product performance and extract insights to improve business results. You will provide leadership and business expertise to optimize data and identify and deploy advanced data analytics tools, models and automated solutions that enhance product, underwriting and pricing performance. You’ll also lead efforts to improve speed of delivery for new analytics solutions, ensuring that they align seamlessly to achieve intended business outcomes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develops and leads the PL business insights and analytics team to identify approaches to assess product performance; extracts new product insights that enable risk assessment improvements; works with IT, Underwriting and Product to implement the analytics solution and operating model changes; and monitors performance of the data driven solutions across PL Product and Underwriting.

  • Defines and frames areas that have the greatest opportunity to benefit from analytics solutions. Primary areas of focus include risk assessment, product improvement, and automation.

  • Develops and continues to improve a risk assessment and risk selection strategy for all PL products and the framework for how pricing and underwriting processes/practices align. Gains PL leadership support and alignment on the strategy and roadmap.

  • Leads efforts to identify and communicate performance improvement opportunities and partners with Advanced Analytics Leader(s) to ensure alignment on methodology and data sources/types to be used in the development of the analytical/model solution. Ensures risk assessment models and data solutions meet the business needs and are in line with competitor peer set while meeting corporate standards.

  • Leads deployment of advanced data analytics tools, models, and automated solutions that enhance performance and results. Applies deep understanding of business, processes, and technology to ensure all solutions work together seamlessly. Leads and is responsible for the internal and external organizational change as advanced tools, models and solutions are implemented. Helps keep insights connected.

  • Gains support needed for funding and execution. Prioritizes budget dollars and resources to ensure highest value initiatives are being delivered within the given capacity/dollar constraints. Champions analytical solutions with the largest value business impact.

  • Leads pricing strategy and the connection of the pricing strategy with risk selection.

  • Interacts frequently with leaders across the organization from areas which include: Advanced Analytics, Enterprise Analytics, Pricing, and IT.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP, Product Development. Minimum of seven direct reports (Bands F-H).

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, or actuarial science required. MBA preferred. Industry related certifications preferred. 

Experience: A minimum of ten years of property and casualty product, pricing, and underwriting experience, to include a minimum of five year
