Location: Crownsville, MD

Environment: Adolescent Residential Treatment Facility 

Schedule: Flexible Schedule Required + Rotating On Call Schedule 

Compensation: $108,000-115,000 Annual Salary + Bonus Incentive Program 

 

About The Role 

The Director of Nursing plays a critical leadership role in ensuring high-quality medical care at Sandstone Care’s teen residential treatment facility in Crownsville, MD. This position oversees nursing operations, provides leadership to the nursing and behavioral health technician teams, and collaborates with medical and clinical staff to maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for adolescents in treatment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Management

• Oversee nursing care for all clients in the residential treatment program.
• Perform intake assessments, monitor client progress, and administer medications per physician orders.
• Ensure compliance with medication management, lab work, and infection control protocols.

Team Supervision & Development

• Directly supervise and develop the nursing and behavioral health technician teams.
• Conduct performance evaluations, implement development plans, and oversee staffing, scheduling, and hiring.
• Provide training and competency assessments for nursing and behavioral health technician staff.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with state regulations, OSHA standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate with the Compliance Officer to maintain high-quality medical standards.
• Oversee incident reporting, risk management, and safety protocols.

Operations & Program Management

• Oversee supply management and budget-conscious purchasing for the nursing department.
• Monitor electronic health records (EHR) documentation and ensure accuracy in medical charting.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and performance improvement initiatives.

 

Education Licensing Requirements:

• An active RN license in good standing with the ability to practice in the state of Maryland is required
• An active CPR / BLS certification is required
• A valid driver's License and clean driving history is required

 

Experience Requirements:

• Experience handling behavioral crises and utilizing therapeutic de-escalation strategies to ensure client and staff safety is required
• Experience providing care and working with adolescent clients (ages 13-17) is required
• 3+ years’ experience in a healthcare setting working with individuals managing mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders is required, ideally with clients ages 13-17 is required

• We are a 24/7 facility that is open on weekends and holidays and regardless of weather conditions.  Staff are expected to work their scheduled shifts unless otherwise coordinated with their direct supervisor.
