About the Position:
University Outreach serves prospective and incoming students, and any other interested parties in the information seeking and application process, as it relates to the California State University system and Cal State Fullerton specifically. Our office provides campus tours, informational workshops, new and transfer student orientations and general information. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Events Assistant (Administrative Support Assistant II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general direction of the Director, Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation, the Events Assistant provides vital support to the Assistant Director, Event Planner, and Director in planning and executing departmental events that serve prospective and incoming students, their families, and community partners. Plays a key role in ensuring events are well-coordinated, timely, and align with departmental goals. Responsibilities include managing logistics, vendor coordination, supporting marketing and communications efforts, and offering hands-on event support. The Events Assistant also assists with budget tracking, post-event assessments, and fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and disseminate event materials. Provides general support to the Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation team in alignment with departmental priorities. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
High School diploma or the equivalent and three years of experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. General working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, practices, and equipment. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling with demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing. Ability to learn, interpret independently, apply, and identify deviations from a variety of complex policies and procedures. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions. Ability to perform arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data. Ability to work on the front line, with a variety of campus and community individuals requiring active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills.
