Occupational Summary
Perform a vari ety of complex technical duties involved in conducting laboratory tests, experiments and determinations in support of Duke University research o perations.
Work Performed< /span>
Pe rform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting physi cal, chemical, biological and other research laboratory tests, experimen ts and determinations to obtain data for research purposes; compile, ana lyze, document and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results. Confer with direct supervisor (postdoc) and principal investigator to r eview work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular equipment as required. Review laborator y methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature fo r information applicable to research experiments.
Obtain, prepare, mount and stain zebrafish animals for microscopic examination.
Perform image and computational analyses as agreed with direct supervi sor.
Maintain zebrafish line s following standard operating procedures.

Generate new transgenic animals as agreed with direct sup ervisor.
Determine and set u p instruments, material and apparatus and operate laboratory equipment r equired for specific tests.
Prepare culture media, chemicals, reagents and solutions.

Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment for performance of duties; clean and maintain la boratory equipment.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
