Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Director of Global  Logistics Compliance is responsible for overall Global  logistics compliance strategy, activities, and requirements for the medical devices’ imports, exports, and trade regulations. Candidate will ensure Global  Compliance with all applicable company policies, customs, and other government agency regulations while managing the expeditious flow of international trade. This role will drive the process improvements related to Logistics Compliance and cross functional activities. The incumbent will establish relationships with cross functional stakeholders.

Role and Responsibility:

  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures, and internal controls to support Global  logistics compliance and supply chain security.
  • Implement and maintain HTS Classification process
  • Develop and maintain written logistics compliance program in accordance with Intuitive corporate policies on international trade.
  • Direct the development and implementation of IT and automation tools to enhance compliance effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Manage Intuitive’s C-TPAT security program, maintaining C-TPAT status. Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and relevant departments to ensure proper security controls.
  • Develop and implement risk management, audit, and review programs within the region. Provide for effective logistics compliance internal controls.
  • Assist and maintain Intuitive logistics compliance manuals, policies and procedures, SOPs, and trade compliance guidelines.
  • Communicate logistics compliance policies to relevant company personnel.
  • Maintain product database with the customs brokers.
  • Manage compliance with trade preferential and duty drawback program.
  • Support daily import/ export shipment clearance operations.
  • Ensure all Importer Security Filing (ISF) for inbound ocean freight are submitted by the customs brokers accurately and timely.
  • Audit documents to ensure import/ export shipments utilize the correct information on the shipping and entry documentation.
  • Audit and manage import/ export recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance with corporate policy and regulations of all government agencies.
  • Perform pre-and post-entry audits related to entry declaration, service providers and suppliers. Follow up with appropriate corrective action and make corrections when non-compliance is identified. Responsible for the Post Entry Amendment program.
  •  Manage import and export service providers by defined metrics, manage and follow up with documented corrective action related to monthly brokerage metrics reports.
  • Provide assistance with export documentation to facilitate timely shipment and export of parts, materials and products.
  • Provide assistance to company sites, suppliers, and Customers in the continuous improvement of their compliance functions.
  • Conduct and report findings of internal risk assessments. Follow up with compliance improvement plans.
  • Provide training to other function groups on import and export requirements.
  • Create action plans to address non-compliance within region.
  • Review and update Intuitive Surgical regional logistics compliance policies and procedures annually or more often as security conditions dictate.
