Job Title : Certified Nursing Assistant Job Summary :
- The Certified Nurse Assistant performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Nursing Assistant assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.
Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :
- None
- High School Diploma/GED or 3 years' experience substitutes for a diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an CNA training program
- Communication and Customer Service Skills; problem solving ability, initiative, good judgment.

Job Function :
- Patient Care: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
- Assistance is provided in performing data collection (TPR/BP/I&O/Weight). Residents are observed closely and reports observations/changes to assigned/charge nurse immediately.
- Appropriate care (personal hygiene, linen changes, assists with meals, elimination) is given to residents; Assists with transporting & mobility needs of residents as needed.
- Assistance is provided in applying assistive devices (TED hose, ice packs, etc), catheter care and specimens are collected when required.
- Resident rooms and nursing station/nooks areas are kept in an orderly fashion at all times.
- Resident bodies are appropriately cared for after death with respect and in accordance with established procedures at all times.
- Resident needs are anticipated and plans time to respond accordingly and in a minimum amount of time.
- Behavior/physiological changes of assigned residents is monitored and promptly reports changes to assigned/charge nurse. Care to the residents need and level of development is adapted appropriately.
- Quality: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
- Knowledge of unit based quality improvement initiatives is demonstrated at all times.
- Resident care is documented on appropriate forms accurately into the E-MAR prior to the shift ending daily.
- Collaboration & Partnership: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
- Instructions issued by nurse and to established nursing home related to resident care routines and policies are followed at all times.
- Effectively assists with admission and/or discharge of a residents at all times.
- Other Duties as Assigned: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
- Other duties as assigned are completed.
- Active participation on unit teams, work groups and/ or committees is provided as requested; anticipates needs and voluntarily assists others.
- Attends all mandatory in-services required by DHH regulations.
