Zendesk also believes in the importance of a healthy work-life balance and offers ample flexibility &amp; full parental leave. </span></p><p></p><h2><span>What you’ll be doing </span></h2><ul><li><p><span>Architect reliable, secure, and scalable backend systems.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Spearhead complex projects and guide technical strategy alignment with business objectives.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and professional development guidance to engineers at all levels.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in the technology underlying our services and related technologies, leading innovation initiatives.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Participate in code reviews and engage in pair programming sessions with peers to maintain high code quality.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and fix defects.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Contribute to technical documentation and specifications.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Lead and manage the entire lifecycle of features, from conception through deployment, performance tuning, and maintenance. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate with the team on how best to work.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Proactively identify areas of technical debt and inefficiency, propose and advocate for sustainable solutions, and implement strategies to prevent such issues in the future. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Work with engineering leadership and your team to foster a collaborative, cohesive and sustainable engineering environment.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Actively participate in feature discovery, working closely with Product and engaging with upstream and downstream engineering teams.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Lead by example in taking responsibility for all levels of testing, including setting up best practices for unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing, ensuring the highest quality of the codebase.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><h2><span>What you bring to the role</span></h2><h2><span>Required experience:</span></h2><ul><li><p><span>Understanding and familiarity with crafting and working with backend technologies.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with Ruby on Rails, React and microservices architecture. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with Ruby on Rails and a deep understanding of its ecosystem.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with designing and implementing service-oriented applications.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience in relational database management systems and SQL.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ambition and high motivation to understand complex systems, focused on identifying and decomposing requirements.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can effectively express your point of view to others and just as importantly, actively listen to others ensuring a good discussion. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Comfortable with picking up new technologies and languages. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Exceptional debugging skills and a systematic approach to root cause analysis, enabling timely resolution of complex issues within the system.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><h2><span>Nice to have:</span></h2><ul><li><p><span>Experience with TypeScript</span></p></li><li><p><span>Some professional experience with Scala or an interest to learn</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience working with Datadog.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Understanding of SLIs, SLOs &amp; error budgets.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with k8s PODs &amp; podded architecture. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with distributed monoliths &amp; microservices architecture patterns</span></p></li></ul><p></p><h2><span>Tech Stack</span></h2><ul><li><p><span>Our services in Mobile Services are written in Ruby / Ruby On Rails, Scala &amp; React.
