About the Role

The Manager of Live Operations will work in partnership with executive management and engineering leadership to manage existing live linear channels on The Roku Channel and build out new technical systems for supporting better onboarding and management of live channels. This role will require partner communication, team management and technical skills specifically in the live video business. It will be cross functional position working alongside business and technical stakeholders to expand upon our Live Linear business.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $102,000 - $153,000 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing day-to-day operations of the Live-Linear Team such as assigning tasks and deadlines, structuring projects and workflow, and ensuring team members have the resources they need to succeed.
  • Work with engineering leadership to create better in-house systems for onboarding partner content, monitoring streams and enhancing quality of service metrics.
  • Support business teams with technical solutions for onboarding new content partners in the Ad supported business.
  • Manage relationships with Linear Certified Partners that facilitate ad supported content partner onboarding including EPG data management and Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI).
  • Facilitate the necessary POs and related paperwork to compensate vendors and content partners.
  • Drive increased standardization and efficiency to the partner onboarding process.
  • Support visibility, key performance measurements, and actionable insights into Roku’s linear content channels, and plan and manage those activities and processes through completion with stakeholders. 
  • Providing guidance and support by coaching, providing real time feedback, training and helping the team develop new skills.
  • Evaluating performance by reviewing performance metrics and delivering evaluations. 

 

We're excited if you have

  • 8+ years of experience in the digital media space, ideally working with businesses of different sizes
  • 4+ years working in the live online video ecosystem, with strong fundamentals in SSAI and SCTE markers.
  • An understanding of signal acquisition from satellite downlink facilities is a plus.
  • Proven experience working in a dynamic environment that requires a steady volume of high-level details, the challenge of identifying and tracking critical paths, complex dependencies, and executing deliverables successfully.
  • Experience and knowledge managing Linear Programming Schedules, Linear or Broadcast EPG.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of metadata concepts and feed formats (XML, JSON)
  • Experience leveraging advanced excel skills and working in custom CMS tools
  • Superb communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation with ease and fluidity between technical and business topics.
  • Working cross functionally with internal technical and business groups
  • Self-organized with a structured thinking approach to problem solving.
  • Knowledge of OTT platforms and technology
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Business, Engineering or related discipline required. Self-motivated individual who takes ownership.
