The Boeing Company is seeking a Cruise Missiles Software Manager in St. Charles, MO.  This Software Manager will lead a team of software engineers in the Cruise Missile Systems organization, which produces long-range precision-guided missiles such as the Harpoon and Standoff Land Attack Missile-Expanded Response (SLAM ER). This role will support our Boeing Defense, Space & Security Division.

This position will manage multiple software teams in the development of Operational Flight Software (OFS), engagement planning and launch control software, resident test software, and other real-time embedded software products that fulfill the mission processing functionality of the cruise missile system.  The software engineers on these teams use a variety of languages, including Ada, C++, C#, Java, Qt, and Python; and develop software for a variety of target platforms and operating systems, including Linux, bare metal, and VxWorks.

The Cruise Missile Systems organization is a strong and growing business that produces world-class long-range precision-guided missiles, which are employed around the world to support the defense of the United States and more than 30 U.S. allied countries.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Manage personnel resources to ensure a fully staffed and trained team is available

  • Drive technical planning and execution, including Earned Value Management (EVM) duties

  • Provide guidance and direction to team members to ensure Software Engineering Design Practices, Independent Verification & Validation, and other engineering excellence initiatives are understood and implemented

  • Drive continuous improvement to ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds planned cost, schedule, technical performance, safety, and quality targets

  • Interface directly with Navy customer counterparts for program software support

  • Support Program Management Reviews, Systems Engineering Technical Reviews, and the Enterprise Standard Gated Process

  • Manage multiple software development lab spaces in a secure computing environment

  • Perform Request for Proposal (RFP) review and software estimating activities to ensure contract budgets provide adequate support for software development tasks

  • Perform employee performance management and career development activities

  • Coordinate with other Boeing Engineering teams in the verification, validation, release and distribution of software products.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, and/or software engineering

  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in a formal management role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in applying AS9100 standard associated with quality assurance for the aerospace industry, including interpreting the requirements of AS9100 and ensuring the compliance of its requirement

  • Experience or training with the Agile software development methodology

  • Experience or training with Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Experience with real-time embedded software development

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
