The MGB Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) is home to more than 2,500 clinicians and staff. The team provides care in more than 40 settings across the MGB enterprise and provides more than 350K ambulatory visits, 25,000 procedures, and 150,000 echocardiograms. The MGB HVI team produces more than 1,000 research publications annually and has more than $180M in annual research expenditures.
Role Summary:
The MGB HVI is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as a Senior Director to serve as the lead administrator for the HVI cardiovascular procedural areas including all invasive and non-invasive procedural sites. As the Heart and Vascular Institute continues with MGB integration and coordination across all sites, the Senior Director will play an integral part in delivering efficient, patient centered clinical operations, as well as execution of MGB procedural services strategy. The Senior Director will work closely with hospital procedural leadership to ensure close alignment with the hospital-based structures and teams.
Working closely with the HVI physician Directors for Interventional, Electrophysiology and non-invasive testing including but not limited to echocardiography, electrocardiography and ambulatory monitoring, as well as the HVI Procedural Nurse Directors, the Senior Director will oversee the execution of an MGB strategic vision to provide seamless access to HVI procedures across MGB procedural locations. The objectives for the HVI include maximizing the utilization of all MGB procedural assets, developing aligned clinical and administrative protocols, ensuring transfers between MGB institutions, and supporting the achievement of growth and improved access into MGB. The Senior Director will work with AMC and Community Hospital leaders to develop consistent workflows for clinical orders and scheduling to improve patient and provider experience accessing our system providers. The Senior Director will also play a key role interfacing with MGB/AMC Digital leadership to develop a plan for integrating technology and applications across the system for Cardiovascular care to enable enhanced access across all MGB sites.
Leadership:
• In partnership with HVI leadership, the Senior Director determines the goals, and objectives for cardiovascular procedural areas.
• Leads multi-disciplinary groups preparing for the move into the MGH Ragon Building. Provides operational oversight and participates as a critical leader in determining staffing, equipment, space needs, workflows, finances, and other interfaces with hospital departments as part of the move to the new building.
• Implements HVI strategic plans for growth such as operational efficiencies, bed planning, staffing, recruitment strategies, community presence, capital, and procedural room availability.
• Works with Institute leadership and MGB Strategy to identify, evaluate, and recommend new business ventures, affiliations, and partnerships consistent with the MGB and HVI strategic plans and the growth and market objectives of the enterprise. Works with departmental and hospital leadership and relevant MGB departments to prepare the necessary business plans and documentation.
• Serves as a critical member and senior leader for the Heart and Vascular Institute administrative team(s). Establishes and maintains clear communications with Institute leaders as to each area’s performance. Interacts and builds strong working relationships with peers and clinical leadership from other divisions and hospitals. Cross covers as needed to support leadership in the Institute.
