Healthyhorns is the umbrella brand encompassing University Health Services, Counseling and Mental Health Center and Longhorn Wellness Center. Together, the departments work to enhance the health and well-being of students’ bodies, minds and lives in support of their academic and personal goals.

Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an accredited on-campus mental health facility dedicated to supporting the well-being of UT Austin students. CMHC offers a range of services, including assessment and referral, group and individual counseling, psychiatry and well-being services.

University Health Services (UHS) is an accredited on-campus medical facility dedicated to addressing the diverse healthcare needs of UT Austin students. UHS provides comprehensive services, including general medical care, public health education and specialty clinics.

The Longhorn Wellness Center (LWC) is the health promotion unit servicing University Health Services and Counseling and Mental Health Center. Staff focuses on educating students about priority college health issues by hosting workshops and events, creating new tools, and collaborating with the campus community to enhance overall well-being.

Purpose

Serve as a key member of the Public Information Team (PIT) Creative Team to provide strategic communications support for Healthyhorns—including University Health Services, Counseling and Mental Health Center, and Longhorn Wellness Center—with additional support for departments including Disability and Access, the Disability Cultural Center, and Longhorn TIES. The PIT Creative Team is a collaborative communication team that serves as the internal marketing and communications unit overseeing initiatives for these departments and programs.

Responsibilities

Social media management

• Manage Healthyhorns social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X), including content creation, posting, and scheduling.

• Design graphics, capture and edit photos, produce videos and reels for social media, and write engaging copy to support each post.

• Track and report analytics each semester to guide content strategy.

• Coordinate messaging and campaigns with campus partners and health and well-being staff.

• Maintain social media calendar and request system in online project management software.

• Occasionally provide social media support to communication and program staff for Disability and Access, Disability Cultural Center, and Longhorn TIES.

Outreach

• Manage and respond to requests for Healthyhorns presentations and outreach events.

• Plan, coordinate, and attend tabling events and presentations, including pop-up opportunities.

• Maintain a detailed working knowledge of all services and programs within the Healthyhorns departments.

• Maintain and restock outreach materials.

Project Management

• Collaborate closely with Longhorn Wellness Center on their design projects.

• Ensure materials follow brand and university style guidelines.

• Help manage project timelines and alert brand manager of priorities.

Serve as SHAC advisor and supervise student employees/interns

• Serve as an advisor to the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC), acting as a key liaison between SHAC and Healthyhorns.
