Job Title:  Sr. Electrical Designer – Baton Rouge, LA

(Experience: 10 plus years)

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Designer for this position will be responsible for the deliverables of concurrent projects from concept design through to the successful completion of various drawings as part of a complete set of construction plans and submission of final project as-built drawings.

What You'll Do

Job Responsibilities:

  • DESIGN
    • Create and locate electrical equipment within a 3D model environment using AutoCAD, CADWorx & Navisworks in coordination with engineers and other discipline designers and documentation.
    • Design site specific Power Distribution per company, client and industry standards that integrate into new or existing client facilities.
    • Understands how to use PFD and P&ID documentation to determine project scope.
    • Prepare drawings and concept sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
    • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations.
    • Be committed to quality and accuracy of work by understanding the importance of working with engineers and subject matter experts during the design process.
  • DRAFTING
    • Prepare orthographic plan drawings from 2D and 3D models for installation of power and control systems showing Hazardous Area, Conduits, Cable Tray, & Grounding Location per company and client drafting standards.
    • Develop installation detail drawings for all electrical and instrumentation equipment required.
    • Size all cabinets, panelboards, cable trays, and conduit per industry standards based upon project scope and vendor information.
    • Prepare one-lines, and wiring diagrams required for specified power equipment.
    • Recent work experience in preparing construction documents for electrical systems.
    • Apply quality control processes, check lists, take ownership and accountability for completed work and insist all work is checked by a senior designer or engineer.
  • DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENT
    • Research, review, and application of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes
    • Perform independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables.
    • Verify structural and site-development layout meets project design intent.
    • Support Professional Engineers during project design phase (standards review, gather calculation inputs, gather permitting requirements, and other engineering activities) as needed.
    • Coordinate E&I design requirements with team members of all disciplines.
    • Review other disciple drawings to ensure coordination and drawing consistency with all E&I equipment.
    • Perform field-related work to obtain design information and verify designs for tie-ins as needed.
    • Review and respond to RFI’s throughout project-life.
    • Review of third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended E&I design.

What You'll Bring

Job Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • GENERAL
    • Minimum 10+ years of experience in the following software/programs:
      • AutoCAD and CADWorx
      • Navisworks
      • Microsoft Office Suite
      • Detailed knowledge in the application of Codes and current Standards, including but not limited to:
        • National Electrical Code (NEC)
        • ANSI/ISA-5.1-2022
        • API-RP500
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities
